Prekindergarten

Developing Self-Confidence

The Prekindergarten program at Hilltop Country Day School prepares our children for a smooth transition into Kindergarten. The classroom environment encourages independence, self-confidence, and the excitement of learning. A framework of readiness skills is developed in the classroom’s rich environment through hands-on discovery, materials, songs, games, stories, exploration, and technology. Academics including math, literacy, creative arts, science, and social skills are guided by a thematic curriculum. We thrive on developing friendships, fair play, classroom routines, independence, and responsibility through kindness and perseverance. Enrichment classes include vocal and instrumental music, art, and world language. One of the guiding principles of Hilltop’s curriculum is a belief in the necessity to prepare students for 21st Century life. As such, our prekindergarten students enjoy technology classes in our state-of-the-art computer lab.

Our prekindergarten program begins at 8:15 a.m. with a minimum of five mornings ending at 12:30 p.m. and can accommodate up to five, full days ending at 3:30 p.m. Students may bring a bagged lunch from home or participate in our optional hot lunch program.
