Our Story
Our Story
Since 1967, Hilltop Country Day School has stood as a beacon of academic excellence and character development in Sparta, Sussex County, New Jersey. As a distinguished independent, nonsectarian, coeducational day school, Hilltop has cultivated a legacy of nurturing young minds, fostering intellectual curiosity, and shaping compassionate leaders.
For over five decades, our students have earned recognition in Technology, Science, History, and Mathematics — a testament to the depth of their learning and the passion of their teachers. Yet beyond awards and accolades, our story is defined by something deeper: the transformation of bright, eager children into thoughtful, confident, and ethical individuals.
At Hilltop, learning is personal, joyful, and enduring. Within our intentionally small classes, students are known — not just by name, but by heart, by need, and by potential. Our low student-to-teacher ratio allows for the kind of meaningful connection and tailored instruction that empowers each child to thrive at their own pace. Advanced learners are encouraged to stretch beyond, while those who need support are met with patience, skill, and care.
At Hilltop, we believe that education should be both inspiring and grounding — a place where children are not only prepared for the next academic step, but also for a life of integrity, resilience, and meaningful contribution.
We are Hilltop — where every child is seen, supported, and set on a path to thrive.
